Needs a graphics card with Vulkan, Metal or DirectX 12. The builds aren’t signed yet — see Installing below.

Installing

The builds aren’t signed yet, so the first start takes one extra step.

Windows

  1. Unzip the file anywhere and run bogo.exe
  2. If SmartScreen says “Windows protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway.

macOS

  1. Open the .dmg and drag ToonFlick to Applications.
  2. The first time, macOS says it can’t check the app. Go to System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway — or right-click the app and choose Open.
  3. If it says the app is damaged, run this in Terminal:
    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/ToonFlick.app

Linux

  1. AppImage: make it executable and run it.
    chmod +x ToonFlick-0.13.3-linux-x64.AppImage
    ./ToonFlick-0.13.3-linux-x64.AppImage
  2. .deb: install it with apt, which brings in ffmpeg too.
    sudo apt install ./toonflick_0.13.3_amd64.deb
  3. tar.gz: unpack it and run ./bogo

What you need

  • A graphics card with Vulkan, Metal or DirectX 12 — most from about the last eight years have it
  • Windows 10 or 11, macOS 13 or newer, or a recent 64-bit Linux
  • Nothing else: video export works out of the box, as ffmpeg comes with ToonFlick
